Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method of Permanent Hair Removal. Electrolysis destroys the growth center of the hair with chemical and/or heat energy. A very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, a current is applied and the hair is removed with tweezers.
It can take anywhere from 6 months up to 2 years in some cases. The total number of sessions needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person. But the unwanted hair that is gone will be gone forever. We realize that this seems like a very wide time-frame but it is just impossible to be more specific due to a big variation in response to treatment.
The amount of treatments needed is influenced by the following factors
Your skin — Skin type and skin sensitivity are factors that influence the result.
Hydration of your skin — Electrical current is conducted more readily in moist tissue than in dry. Moisture is vital for effective electrolysis treatment.
Thickness of your hair — Thicker hair is more difficult to remove.
Quantity of hair — It takes longer to remove hairs that are close together than hairs that are further apart.
Genetics, hormones, and health can also factor into your results.
For areas that have been waxed or tweezed, treatments may need to be more frequent than for areas that have been shaved.
Electrolysis clients might schedule 5 minutes for just a couple of annoying hairs on their chin or they might schedule an hour or longer appointments to treat larger areas like heavy facial growth or legs.
The frequency and length of your appointments depends on the size of the area being cleared and the progress of your treatment. In general, beginning treatments are longer and more frequent. Treatment length and frequency then tapers off as fewer hairs remain to be treated.
To achieve optimum results, it is important to follow the recommended treatment plan.
Almost certainly. Electrolysis is effective for all skin types, hair types, skin colors, hair colors, and areas of the body.
This is almost entirely dependent on you, and your body. Some areas are more sensitive than others, and the sensitivity can be effected by Hydration levels, hormone levels, and stress. So...all of that said, if you make coming in relaxed, hydrated, and rested, you will be the most comfortable. We can also help with things like numbing cream for extra sensitive spots.
Many insurance companies will do a reimbursement for gender affirming care, you will need to talk to your insurance provider to verify if they can do that for you. We will also be focused on adding insurance companies to our roster so we can take them as well. This will be the place to find that info as new companies come on board.
During your initial consultation we will discuss all of the options for you and your situation. We are all trained in all three modalities, Electrolysis, Flash, and Blend.
